Learner Box Learning Modules are designed to be used with the Learner Box Toolkit. Together, they provide a complete instructional framework to use with your students. The Learner Box Toolkit is marketed as a companion product and contains a Master Task Board (including a Tabletop Easel), a Choice Board and 3 Sequence Boards. The boards and easel are constructed from durable, washable plastic. The boards are equipped with Velcro to allow the Mayer Johnson - Picture Communication Symbols that come with each Learning Module to be easily placed on the boards. To keep these important tools organized, they are housed in a rugged case or “box”. This is where the name “Learner Box” comes from. |

| A consistent set of core vocabulary is defined for each of the Learner Box modules. That vocabulary is reinforced in each of the lessons within that module. This clip demonstrates how core vocabulary could by introduced or reinforced during one of the Learner Box cooking lessons. | |
| Simple tasks such as gathering the ingredients for a cooking lesson offer the opportunity to teach. Here the students are using differentiated teaching materials based on their skills and needs to gather ingredients for trail mix. | |
| This clip shows the teacher introducing the first step of the cooking recipe on the master task board then moving to two differentiated approaches to processing the step. One student uses text based instructions while the other uses a sequence board with picture support – both students are successful. | |
| This clip shows a student on the spectrum using visual supports and prompting to read and carry out a step from the lesson. | |
| This clip shows a step in a lesson which involves counting and depicts how adaptations (which are described in the instructor materials) may be deployed during the lesson. Note how the second student, using the tab-strip adaptation engages completely in the activity and achieves success | |
